The NSS unit of College in collaboration with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur has arranged Webinar on “Literacy and Human Development: A Distinctive Outlook in the New Normal” on 28th August, 2021 at 5.00 p.m. to 6.15 p.m. on Zoom platform. Asst. Prof. Tushar Pawar started webinar with Keynote address, where he explained about importance of education and how we can surview in this modern world with our expertise. After keynote address Asst. Prof. Tushar Pawar invited I/C Principal Dr. Eknath Zhrekar to welcome the gathering.

Principal Zhrekar has welcomed resource person and all the participants. He also mentioned about education policies in primary to higher education. Miss. Yvette Lee President of SIBC also welcome the gathering and highlighted few thoughts about importance of literacy in development of society and nation. After the welcome address Asst. Prof. Dr. Anaya Markandeya introduced our resource person and also requested to Rev. Fr. Dr. Sony to start the session. Fr. Dr. Sony is Director and Principal of Christ College, Pune. He is hardcore educationist and also working with different NGOs to inculcate education values among young students. Fr. Dr. Sony started his session with questions like What do you mean by literacy? What is the importance of Literacy? Why we need to take education? Why we need to give higher education our child? Why higher education is important? and also participants to answer these questions in chat box. Father Sony continued his session with his PowerPoint presentation and spoked about history of International Literacy Day. He highlighted some problems in our education system and also talked about polices in higher education. He showed some documentary films during session narrating issues and importance of education in every bodies life. Fr. Sony had conducted such impressive session every participant got an idea about advantages of higher education and how literacy programmes will help in human development. After the session participants asked some questions and cleared their doubt about education system in India and in the world. His session so interesting and informative. Students, teachers and other participants also appreciated lot about the way he emphasized on importance of literacy in individual development during this session. After the session Asst. Prof. Harsh Shukla formally proposed vote of thanks to resource person, Management, Principal, organizing committee and to all participants. Session was ended with National Anthem.
