Teacher Training Programme

Mahatma Education Society organised an in-house Teacher Training Programme for all the MES teachers working in its several institutions. Teachers from the colleges of Engineering, Architecture, Polytechnic, Management, Arts, Science and Commerce, Degree and Junior colleges, Night Degree and Junior colleges, Colleges of Education and Physical Education, CBSE Schools, English and Marathi medium, SSC schools, English and Marathi medium and IB schools attended this mega teacher training programme from 3rd to 7th June, 2017.

The theme of the teacher training programme was ‘Digital tools and Presentation Skills’. The workshop was organised at the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus at New Panvel. The event was organised by the curriculum team of the Mahatma Education Society. Over 700 teachers attended the workshop. All the teachers of Mahatma Night Degree College attended this teacher training programme. Dr. Padma Rangan, Principal of Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce, Chembur welcomed the resource persons with a bouquet of flowers. The workshop was interactive and received well by all the participants.

Mahatma Education Society believes in continuous professional development of its teachers. Thus this workshop was organised with an objective to upgrade the digital skills of teachers along with equipping them with the changing patterns of communication skills necessary for the 21st Century classrooms.

The workshop was conducted by experts from the fields of Digital tools and Communication skills respectively. Mr. Gupteswar Rao a resource person of the programme is an educator, author & motivator. A 1st class PG in Physics (1972), he was awarded by Dr. Venkaiah Naidu (Union Minister for Urban Development) for his concept on Digital Teaching Technologies. He is the only Indian appointed Ambassador in US based www.augthat.com, an Augmented Reality for Education. He has authored a book titled “Empowering tools for today’s educators”.

Mr. Gupteshwar Rao presented a plethora of advanced digital tools to the teachers to enhance and complement their classroom teaching. He also provided a hands-on-training session on 5th June, 2017 for teachers to experience the digital tools and become proficient with them.

The topic of Communication Skills was addressed by a Communication expert Mr. Koka Prasad. Mr. Koka Prasad our resource person has over a decade of experience in Leadership and Interpersonal skills. A highly sought-after presenter and speaker for all occasions, award-winning public speaker Mr. Prasad teaches and conducts communication and leadership workshops, mentors and coaches speakers. He is the first person from the State of Qatar to win the country level contest 7 times (year 2008,09,10,13,14,15,16) he is also the first person from the Middle East (UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, KSA, Bahrain, Qatar, Lebanon) to win the International Speech Contest five times representing it at the semi-finals of the World Championship of Public Speaking held at Canada, USA and Malaysia.

At the training programme Mr. Koka Prasad imparted training on various important aspects of communication like voice pitch and voice culture, body language, poses, introductions, etc. His mastery in the topic managed to bring across the immense importance of good communication skills for teachers to be able to connect to students well.

The teachers at Mahatma Education Society applauded the workshop for all the new insights and training it offered to help them become a teacher with a change for the future classrooms.
