NSS unit and Department of Environmental Studies of Mahatma Night Degree College has arranged Webinar on “Catch the Rain” Need of Water Conservation and Rain Water Harvesting on 28th August, 2021 at 7.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. on Zoom platform. Asst. Prof. Tushar Pawar started webinar with Keynote address, where he explained about available of water resources and why there is need to conserve such precious resources. After keynote address Asst. Prof. Tushar Pawar invited I/C Principal Dr. Eknath Zhrekar to welcome the gathering. Principal Zhrekar has welcomed resource person Mr. Dhaval Joshi and all the participants. In his welcome address he also spoked about the importance of water in human life aw well as for animals. He has also mentioned that why there is need to conduct such webinars and seminars on conservation of water resources.

After the welcome address Asst. Prof. Tushar Pawar introduced resource person Mr. Dhaval Joshi and requested him to start the session. Mr. Joshi is young environmentalist. He is pursuing his Ph.D. from University of Edinburgh, UK in Geoscience.

Mr. Joshi started his session with English and Marathi poem on rain and created such interesting environment about his session. He has talked about water the kind of water resources available on earth, how much amount of surface water and ground water is available. From the surface water how much drinking water resources are available. Mr. Joshi also spoked about water policy, Water Act and why we require to conserve water resources for sustainable use. Mr. Joshi has explained about from where Mumbai people are getting water for their drinking and domestic purpose, he also mentioned that Mumbaikars has no water resources available in their area they have to depend on Tansa Vaitarna dams which are 100-150 km away from them. At the end of session, he talked about conservation strategies of water resources and rain water harvesting methods with some case studies of Kerala state. His session so interesting and informative. Students and teachers also appreciated lot about the way he conducted this session.
