As part of the AIDS AWARENESS FORTNIGHT activities of 2023 the RRC Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of the college organized a Discussion on “Aids Awareness” on Wednesday 15th December, 2023 from 6.45 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. for the F.Y.B.Com. and S.Y.B.Com. students of the college in class room number 404.

RRC members of the college who were trained by MDACS – Disha Suvasiya, Prashant Pawar Suman Singhadiya started the discussion by sharing facts they had learned at the training programme in MDACS, Wadala.

NSS P.O. Dr. Lata Krishnan and Dr. Tushar Pawar invited students to share their understanding about HIV/AIDS.

With the help of hypothetical examples the students rationalized, thought and discussed the facts of HIV/AIDS. They outlined the behavior a person should adopt to avoid the contraction of HIV/AIDS. They discussed the stigma attached to a HIV/AIDS positive patient. The outlined the behavior to be meted out to a HIV/AIDS positive patient. Students discussed how the disease spreads, facts and myths of HIV/AIDS. The names and addresses of the Testing Centers and for ART treatment for HIV/AIDS were shared. India ranked 3rd in the world in the list of HIV/AIDS positive patients. The statistics shocked the participants and set them thinking.

Facts about the HIV virus and the manners in which it spreads. The facts about how HIV will not spread. The need of treating HIV affected people with dignity and compassion. Mental blocks and myths regarding HIV Aids were busted.

The event was interactive and interesting.
