On Saturday 17th February, 2018 45 students of Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce participated in the Chembur Festival Cultural Parade. The team of students was lead by S.Y.B.Com. student Tony. The parade was flagged off at Diamond Garden, Chembur at 5.30 p.m. Over 50 institutions particularly schools, colleges, NGOs participated enthusiastically. The parade comprised of pretty faces all dressed in traditional clothes. They walked down S’t Anthony’s Road slowly and with pride, carrying their institution banner in front of them. Crowds gathered to see the parade. They cheered and clapped as the participants walked by. Names of the institutions were announced and the students waved when their college name was called out. The Mahatma Night Degree College students walked with confidence and responded happily at onlookers. They were glad to be part of the prestigious Chembur Festival Cultural Parade 2018.
The Chembur Festival was initiated in the year 2011 by the Chembur Citizen’s Welfare Association. Led by Secretary Suprada Phaterpekar and Mr. Prakash Phaterpekar, the festival has taken a new shape and evolved over the years. The committee consists of enthusiastic youngesters who are eager to give something back to society. A combination of various communities, nodes, landmarks and paths is how we associate Chembur with. The sense of belonging can be experienced by one who was born and bred in it. Chembur Festival is one such expression. The festival aims at reviving, rejuvenating and propagating the character of Chembur. It offers opportunities to the new and glory to the ones who have reached the pinnacle of their careers.
The Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce, Chembur has been serving the citizens of Chembur for over three decades. It has been an integral part and pillar of the growth of Chembur. The college feels proud to associate with the Chembur Festival, an annual feature that gives the students of the college an opportunity to connect with Chemburites and take it forward.
