The NCC Cadets of the college lead by T.Y.B.Com. Senior Cadet Sumit Ballal constructed a memorial arranging a gun and helmet decorated with flowers and Rangoli to pay homage to the soldiers who had made the supreme sacrifice in the Kargil war on 26th August, 1999.
The T.Y.B.Com students were called down at 8.00 p.m. to the ground floor multipurpose hall of the college to participate in the event. Principal Dr. Eknath Zhrekar, teachers and staff assembled at the venue. NCC In charge Dr. Lata Krishnan made the opening remarks and explained the purpose of the gathering.
NCC Senior Leader Cadet Sumit Ballal addressed the gathering. He explained in detail the incidents that happened on 26th August, 1999 and gave the significance of marking Kargil Vijay Divas.
Cadet Aswajeet Hate and Cadet Soni Prasad made their speeches and gave further information and details of the war. They narrated how the soldiers fought bravely and laid down their lives for the nation.
Principal Dr. Eknath Zhrekar was invited to light the first candle on Kargil Vijay Divas. All the NCC Cadets joined him in the process. Teachers and staff of the college were called up to light candles. Students were invited to shower flower petals to pay their tribute to the brave hearts. The air was filled with patriotism and students maintained pin drop silence as they paid their respect to the martyrs. A feeling of gratitude and pride mixed with love for the nation engulfed all present at the event.
After all the participants had completed paying homage, the event ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
