Community Service Day CSD is an initiative of MES Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Group of institutions to connect with the community. Every institution of MES (48 institutions) invites an NGO to participate in the CSD. The students of every institute spend one full fun-filled day with the inmates of their invited NGO. The management organizes lunch, gifts and snack boxes for the NGO inmates and ensures that the participants are picked up and dropped safely from and to their institutions. Ms. Yvette Lee, Counsellor and Programme incharge CSD organized the event on Saturday 4th February, 2023.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lata Krishnan and Asst. Prof. Dr. Harsh Shukla accompanied the students and teachers of Seva Dan Special School to the MES Dr. K.M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, Panvel. The bus carried the banner of the invited NGO – SEVA DAN SPECIAL SCHOOL. They were received by student volunteers of Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce, Chembur, Mumbai and Pillai College of Arts Science and Commerce, Panvel.
The ground floor area near the old canteen was demarcated as activity area. After assembling, the students settled down and proceed for lunch.
Lunch was served at 12.30 p.m.. After lunch the Seva Dan students and volunteers of MNDC participated in fun-filled activities. Musical Chairs, a colouring competition and Dance performances by students of Seva Dan was organized. The students had a lot of fun! They made new friends and had good interactions.
Principal Dr. Eknath Zhrekar gave away the prizes for the musical chair game and colouring competition. Chocolates were distributed to all the children. Dr. Anaya Markandeya, Dr. Tushar Pawar and Dr. Harsh Shukla along with Dr. Lata Krishnan interacted with the invited NGO students and teachers and conducted the programme smoothly.
Gifts and Snack Boxes from MES were given to the students of Seva Dan at the end of the event.
At 4.30 p.m. the programme concluded and the students were seen off into the bus that drove them back to Seva Dan Special School, Chembur Mumbai.
CSD was well celebrated and all the participants had a happy and gratifying experience.
