Responsibility of MNDC Placement CellThe companies visited the MNDC Placement Mela 2023-24 FREE of cost. The organizers did not pay the company for participating, however they provided them desk space for conducting interviews and a place to put up their company banner. Mahatma Night Degree College provided the company representatives with drinking water, tea, snacks and lunch as they were on campus from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

The student volunteers, Placement Cell members Asst. Prof. Dr. Harsh Shukla, Asst. Prof. Dr. Anaya Markandeya, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tushar A. Pawar and Ms. Parveen Arif, MNDC Placement Cell Incharge Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lata Krishnan reported to college at 9.15 a.m. With the help of support staff, this team set up the interview desks in the campus as per floor plan made. Every desk was given a number. Principal Dr. Eknath Zhreakar met the team of volunteers and teachers and wished them good luck for the event!

The company List (Gate Banner) put up at the entrance of the college had the columns serial number, company name, address of company (job location), job / position vacant, number of vacancies for each position, salary per annum and floor plan giving room number and desk number.

Students registered by scanning the QR code to register for the MNDC Placement Mela 2023-24. The entire registration process was paperless. The Company List put up contained all the information a student participant required to participate in the job fair. At a glance they could select the company and know exactly where to go for the interview. The registration desk also registered the company participants who reported for the event.

The MNDC Placement Mela was inaugurated at 11.00 a.m. by the Chairman and C.E.O. of Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Group of Institutions Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai. Dr. Pillai cut the ribbon along with Dr. Eknath Zhrekar, Principal of the college, Shri G. T. Ochani Sir, Deputy CEO of Chembur Campus, Dr. Reni Francis, Principal of Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur, Ms. Preethi Pawar, Principal Chembur English High School, Dr. Lata Krishnan, Chairman Placement Cell and Coordinator for the Placement Mela and teachers of the college. In his address Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai explained how important it was for students to attend the placement mela and face interviews. He said he was happy to see so many company HRs and encouraged them to select candidates and give them good job openings. Dr. Pillai interacted with Company representatives and asked them what they were looking for in a prospective candidate. He explained how a students should introduce himself / herself and said that the sentence should begin with “My name is …” Dr. Pillai wished all the participants the best of luck and commended the college for organizing the event. Dr. Eknath Zhrakar, Principal of Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce gave the welcome address. He thanked all the company participants for coming to the campus for the job fair and motivated the students to do their best at the interviews.

The air was filled with excitement and anticipation, hustle and bustle as students and company representatives. All the company desks were busy with students being interviewed. Chairs were arranged for students to sit and wait for their turn to be interviewed. Of the 38 companies invited, 35 reported, 190 students registered and participated in the job fair. 102 students received offer letters from the companies.

Ms. Parveen Arif and a team of student volunteers took charge of student registrations and company participants registrations. Dr. Tushar Pawar organized the inauguration ceremony. A working lunch was provided to all company participants and effectively coordinated by the food committee Dr. Harsh Shukla and Dr. Tushar Pawar. Dr. Anaya Markandeya and the team of volunteers managed the interviews of students receiving offer letters and documentation of the proceedings.

Modus Operandi adopted for the Event:
Company representatives were provided desk space in the ground floor multipurpose hall where they displayed their company banner. List of companies with position, name and number of vacancies were put up outside at the college entrance. Students register for the MNDC Placement Mela 2023-24 using google form link. Registration was free for all. Company representatives made presentations explaining job vacancies, nature of work, name address / location of company and salary offerings. The company name, classroom number and time of presentation were announced from time to time, for interested students to assemble for presentations. Students carried their biodata /curriculum vitae and visited the companies they were interested in working for. Interviews were conducted at company desks. Selected candidates were issued offer letters. Students selected by companies informed the college Placement Cell and their name and company name was announced. A copy of their offer letter was filed with the MNDC Placement Cell. Every company representative documented the name and details of the students they interviewed with log selected / rejected after conducting interviews. A copy of this list was given to the college Placement Cell.

Registration was free for all candidates. The MNDC Mela was open to students from MNDC and outside colleges also.
