Placement Mela 2018-19

The MNDC Placement Mela 2018 was organized on Saturday, 22nd December, 2018 between 11.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. in Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce, Chembur Naka, Chembur Mumbai 71. The venue was the ground floor multipurpose hall of the college campus. Eighteen companies participated in the event. They were Food Stuff; Securance; Andromedia; Rliance SMSL; Maruti Suzuki; HDFC LIFE; Pcesetters; Eureka Forbes Technical; Well Connect; ICICI Bank; SBI Bank; Calibehr; HDB Finance; ITD Technologies & Marketing Pvt. Ltd., Eureka Resources; Skynet Secure Solutions; Eureka Forbes Sales and Janaswami Chartered Accountats.

The MNDC Mela 2018 was a joint effort by the Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce, Chembur Placement Cell with MCC Model Career Centre, CII Confederation of Indian Industries and MoLE Ministry of Labour and Employment. Principal Dr. Padma Rangan cut the ribbon and inaugurated the event. Amidst the hustle and bustle of students and company representatives were announcements of students clearing their interviews and receiving appointment letters. The slot between 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. was reserved for inhouse students. The F.Y.B.Com., S.Y.B.Com. and T.Y.B.Com. students of the college rallied around and selected a job of their choice. Each student carried with them over 20 copies of their resume and appeared for all the interviews scheduled by companies visiting the MNDC Placement Mela 2018. A lunch break was announced between 1.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. A counselling session for all the students was organized in room number 201 post lunch. Here the alumni students participated in large numbers as they were invited to visit between 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Several company representatives made presentations. Food stuff a three-year old company started by Mr. Iyer is a startup that sources food stuff for hotels of all segments ranging from rom Udupi restaurants to five star hotels. The positions they offered were for marketing personnel and accounts officers. Their head office is located in Goregaon and store in Sanpada. Mr.Iyer shared his success story of how he left his cozy job to take on his business full time and was able to absorb a lot of his friends and colleagues form his previous job. The students listened with intent and were inspired.

HDB Finance was represented by a team of two young representatives. The presentation was made by the vibrant young lady Neha who explained how students could earn a salary and tall incentives by selling various products of the HDFC Bank. Loans, insurance, automobile loans, housing loans, credit cards etc.

A senior executive Mr. Khan from Maruti Suzuki spoke at length about his company and explained the positions available at Maruti Suzuki. The company wanted to recruit young graduates below the age of 25 as their marketing officials in their various showrooms pan India. Maruti Suzuki is a renowned brand and the students were excited to go in for interviews.

Several other companies made their presentations after which they returned to the MNDC Mela 2018 to continue with interviews. The students were now better informed and the footfall in the mela increased. The students receiving appointment letters were required to meet Dr. Padma Rangan, where she congratulated them and had a photo session with them. They were asked to share their experience about the interview they had cleared and the job they had obtained. A xerox copy of their appointment letter is maintained by the college.

Over 100 students participated in the event and 48 jobs clinched by young students and alumni of the college. The Management, staff and students of Mahatma Night Degree College were happy to have organized and participate in the MNDC Placement Mela 2018. The event was a success. The MNDC Placement Cell incharge Dr. Lata Krishnan thanked the college Management, Principal, staff, students and Mr. Saurabh and team from MCC, CII, MoLE for all their efforts to make the event a success. She believes that it is one step taken towards moving closer to the mission statement of the college.
